Youth ― the Major Capital of Muslim Ummah

It is not so outdated. Objectively a score years back, bigger population was considered to be an ‘encumber’. But China’s whopping and India’s middling economic growth made this.
encumber a big economic strength by turning this demographic bulge into a ‘Market’. This besides the short sightedness reveals the reality that man has made the economy his everything. The descend of newborns in this world is the declaration of the fact that God is not yet unhappy from the mankind, utterly- said Rabindranath Tagore, a long time ago. But the eco of Tagore’s this reflection had not been heard even for a single time on the global hemisphere, though Tagore was the one having noble prize. And the reason was that, Tagore’s reflection was related to the religious concerns and for the billions of people across the world religious concerns have no value in contrast with economic concerns.
In this notion, the demographic bulge of Muslim Ummah becomes a major capital for Ummah. The reason is that, the population of Muslim world today is exceeding by 1.6 Billion. Means the Ummah as a religious, civilizational, historical and economic unity has more population than China and India. The significance second to this is that its presence by means of global and cultural, ethnic and economic ways is commendably diverse. But the most important aspect of this population is the Muslim demographic bulge; consisting of youth by 55 to 60 percent. And the vital thing is the Muslim demographic expansion, by the rate, 2.5 to 3 percent. If this trend of demographic expansion continues then the current percentage of youth bulge will remain for a term long-drawn-out. In this perspective, therefore, the demographic bulge of Ummah is actually a super-sized mine of diamonds and gold. Though the gold is still its raw form and the diamonds are still to be figured out. But in the presence of these things there is a sizeable potential for good, not only for Muslim Ummah but for whole of the humanity, too. But the question is: what is the weight of youth in the society?
The most finished cut of youth is that they can dream. Means they are idealist. People often consider dream as the negative to reality. But the dream is a bigger reality than the reality itself. And the reason is, reality is ‘there’, only, and the dream ‘can be there’. It means that realist is not more then what he has become. But the idealist can become the possibility he has in him. It reflects that youth is the world of possibilities. It is the clear testimony of history that change, both spiritual and material, was brought into by those who dreamt. Prophets – falling out of the discussion, even in the circle of everyman, all the big names were and are those who dreamt or the idealist. All the big-named poets and writers were and are those who dreamt. All the world infamous scientists were and are those who believed more in “can present” than the “present”, itself. In this context Muslim civilization has the public of 600 to 700 million those, who dream. The vital thing is that these 600, 700 millions have, in their hands, the flag of ‘Taw’heed’ (monotheism in Islam), the Banner of Quran, the glory of Prophet Hood, and the concept of hereafter to invest. They are the heirs of that idea, that not only Muslim Ummah but whole of the humanity has its right on them. So these youngsters can bottom up the revolution that can formulate this world and the world hereafter of the humanity, and which can be so deeply rooted that the fruit of this revolution would transfer from generation to generation.
A key aspect of being a youth is that youngsters are not the thing which we can call as ‘the finished product’. They can be whatever you want them to be. A problem to man is that once his personality completes he becomes enslave and idolize to this personality. Then he cannot figure out anything besides this. But the youth is always ready to accept everything good. They answer every good call. They are there with their hearts for every good counsel. A tragedy to our world is that it calls itself innovative and likes innovation, but the reality is that the billions of people across the globe are the ‘slaves’ of their self-made misleading. They have made hundreds of their abnormalities their ‘habit’. It means that the characters of billions of people are the victim of fixation, and what they had become; they cannot push themselves beyond this. God has blessed these billions of people with trillions of potentials, but these potentials cannot be exercised because of the fixation of their characters. Through this angle, the presence of 600, 700 million youth in the Muslim world is the presence of a major potential “revolutionization”. The idea of the presence of this ‘revolutionization’ is evident for the Muslim Ummah and for whole of the world.
To develop a new world demands a high degree of human power and the biggest source of this power is youth. The heaps of power on one hand enable the youth to bear more burdens and on the other hand produce that stormy feeling in the youth which deeply enchain them to their job. Without this enchainment, a 200 meter sprint can be run but not the marathon. Taking it into account, the process of changing of world is like a marathon and the youth is most efficient for this purpose.
Time and again youngsters are defined as “emotional”, but it is a very two-dimensional definition of youth. Actually the youth is “emotional” because they have no “interests”, so the “emotionalism” of youth, on one side, appears as an ocean of sincerity and on the other side it easily drives them for the sacrifice for a bigger cause.
Inside the confines of Islam, the aid and backing of Allah is subjected to three things:
The first provision for Allah’s aid is the transparency of sentiments and sincerity for the sovereignty of the truth. And how easy is this for the youth to straighten their sentiments and to tug with sincerity, those who are over-the-hill cannot even have the foggiest notion of it. The second condition for His aid is that the man should be ready to make sacrifices for the supremacy of the truth, and it has been mentioned earlier that the youth has an allurement, a gracefulness in sacrifice. And the reason is, as is the man ‘alive’ so is the death appears to be ‘lovely’ and ‘meaningful’ to him. The third term for Allah’s aid is that the man should establish perseverance over the sacrifices and the way youth can assimilate the sacrifices, no other can assimilate sacrifices in that way.
A thing, in particular of youth is that the change in this age is easy and endure for a long time. The reason for it is that the temper of youth is not of ‘since, therefore’ type. They usually have only that much dialogue and argumentation which is necessary for their convincement. Once the youth get convinced no power on earth can dislocate them from their path. Since there is usually no part of their ‘interests’ in their change, that’s why once they enter in any specific ideological domain, they do not get out of it for their whole life. There was a time when Muslim world was divided into three camps. One was the socialist camp, second was the Islamist and the people of third camp was those who found them referred with the western capitalism. But the socialism has annihilated, now, in the Muslim world the status of socialism is not more than the ‘commemoration of past’. What westerns have done in Iraq and Afghanistan, it has damaged the image of western moral dominance, to a degree highly commendable. Result is the emergence of Islam as the ‘one and only choice’ of huge Muslim majority. Some fragments declare Muslims and specially the Muslim youth as ‘cultural Muslims’. Of course there is a lack of practice among the Muslim youth, but a weighty thing of Muslims is that they are effete by ‘practice’, not by ‘faith’. Since all the beliefs, system of rituals and the moral philosophy of Muslims are secure therefore, to remove this defect of practice is not an uphill task. But it is really a challenging task to alter those who have wrong or wretched beliefs. Because first you have to figure out the defects of their old beliefs, then you convince them on new belief, and then there, somewhere, lies the practice. Oftentimes it costs years. But those who have righteous beliefs, they can be turn into ones who ‘practice goods’. A thing particular to Muslims and specially the Muslim youth is that the evils, errors and myths in them are the results of ‘environmental repression’. By the Grace of Allah Almighty, the majority of Muslim youth are ‘right natured’. Means their disorders are not related to nature, but the environment. Just as the environment change this Muslim youth will be cast full tilt and will play the pivotal rule in the re-erection of the glory of Muslim hemisphere.
